What’s the role
The senior process control engineer role is to be responsible for delivering Advanced Process Control (APC) and Base Layer Process Control solutions to various process units in Pulau Bukom. This involves developing new applications as well as maintaining the performance of existing applications and providing day-to-day operational support for improved unit profitability and stability.
Job Responsibilities:
- Delivery of high uptime and good compliance/performance of the base layer control
- Conduct daily base layer performance monitoring, provide technical support and lead troubleshooting for control and safeguarding related issues
- Implement APC applications to improve the margin of the process units.
- Monitor performance of APC applications
- Identify opportunities for improvements in the area of control strategy and control configuration. Design, modify and tune base layer controls and APC applications to maximize benefits and save energy
- Support alarm management initiatives.
- Participate in design or safety review and provide process control and safeguarding related inputs to projects
- Participate in major activities like FAT/SAT for Distributed Control systems and Instrument Protective systems and unit startup/shutdown support.
- To guide and coach the junior process control staffs and help develop their technical competences
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or similar
- Minimum 6 or more years of knowledge and/or related skill in the oil/chemical manufacturing process control experience will be highly desirable
- Must have Knowledge/ skill in the APC applications
- Ability to troubleshoot and propose improvement for existing APC applications will be a plus
- Ability to Identify opportunities and develop new APC applications for running process units will be desirable.
- Must be equipped with knowledge/work experience in Yokogawa DCS system or similar DCS systems and ability to execute engineering changes independently.
- Demonstrated work experience to tune, troubleshoot, design and implement process control loops.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal relation skills.
- Team player and capable of building strong work relationship with stakeholder such as Process Operating teams.
- Ability to prioritize and manage expectations in the case of competing requests from stakeholders.
