About the job

 

Position Description/Accountabilities

Front line execution of Instrument Maintenance Activities and MOC projects, in their respective Production Units (PUs).

Execute quality instrumentation jobs safely, timely and within budget.

Work as an instrument team to implement asset/system maintenance strategy (GSAP/IPF), corrective/predictive maintenance and feedback to engineering assurance for continuous improvement.

Instrument Maintenance execution is to ensure asset/system integrity and reliability.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Carries out himself, or as team leader/member, directs, controls, instructs, and, trains less experienced technicians and contract workers in the design, installation and maintenance of instrument equipment and system ensuring work complies with DEPs, IPF/CTM/PCD network security standard and the codes and practices pertaining to use of instrument equipment in hazardous locations (IP Code,- British, European and American Standards) and safe use of instrument equipment in all installations.
  • Liaises with respective PU OMC in scheduling and execution jobs, making all necessary arrangements for work such as obtaining of clearances, permits, materials and planning isolation of instrument equipment as per Aster Game ME process.
  • Assists in prepare job specifications and estimated costs for work involved.
  • Assists in drawing up and implements programs for the maintenance of instrument equipment and system.
  • Assists in setting up and directs others in practices and methods for dismantling and re-assembly of instrument equipment and takes appropriate action to rectify failures in instrument equipment.
  • Assists in investigate instrument equipment and system failures, traces and rectifies faults in instrument equipment and system.
  • Ensures that all instrument and system maintenance work and testing are carried out as per registered instrument RMS documents.
  • Performs standby duties as required. As the above are the main tasks of the job. Additionally, the incumbent may also perform other related duties not listed here.

 

HSSE Responsibilities:

  • Give HSSE matters a high profile to create a safe and healthy working environment for staff & contractors and ensure maintenance activities comply with HSSE MS, legislative, ISO 9001, ISO14001 and OHSA 18001 requirements
  • Comply with Bukom HSSE MS procedures
  • Implement assigned controls identified in the HSSE-MS, such as those in the Refinery Bowties, Hazard Sheets and HRAs

 

Job Requirement:

  • Perform the skill level of Instrument Tech L8 (T2).
  • Perform the skill level of Electrical Technician L7 (T3)
  • Describe all DCS components that sit on L3 and L3.5 network components and   their respective function.
  • Front line trouble-shooting and rectify simple DCS / IPS problems.
  • Perform shutdown management – major shutdown & project planning, preparation & execution.
  • Perform all maintenance activities independently.
  • Execute maintenance planning using planning tools such as MS-Project, Primavera P3e.
  • Analyze and trouble-shoot complex problems.
  • Update and maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Report and recommend improvement on recurring problems / breakdowns.
  • Conduct on the job training for junior technicians.
  • To commission, test run and evaluate new instrument.
